A tech flagged something. What do I charge for it?

If the recommendation matches an item in your Jobber products and services list, the price can come straight from there when you approve. If it does not match, you enter a price at approve the way you would quote it over the phone. And if you are not ready to price it, approve it without one. The line goes to Jobber flagged for the office to price, and nothing is ever guessed on your behalf.

Your price list is the fast path

Mentat looks at your Jobber products and services list. Where a recommendation line matches an item there, the price is available at approve. Same price the office would put on it, no thinking required.

That makes the list worth keeping up. If a tech keeps flagging the same kind of work and it is not in your list, add it in Jobber once. From then on it matches.

When it does not match

Some of what a technician flags is not a catalogue item. A repair that depends on what they found, a replacement where the size matters, a job that needs a look before anyone commits.

Read the transcript first. Their own words tell you the scope: what the equipment is, what shape it is in, what the customer said. That is usually enough to price it the way you would if the tech had called you from the driveway.

Then enter the price at approve. It goes onto the draft quote in Jobber as the line price.

When you are not sure

Approve it unpriced. The draft quote still lands in Jobber, with that line flagged so the office prices it before the quote goes out. That is a normal path, not a failure. It gets the recommendation out of the queue and into Jobber, where pricing happens for everything else in your shop anyway.

What not to do

Do not price from the memo alone if the memo does not tell you the scope. A tech saying the unit is old is a reason to look, not a line item. Snooze it and ask, or approve unpriced and let the office follow up.

Do not deny something because it is hard to price. Deny is for work you are not going to quote. Hard to price is what the unpriced path is for.

After approve

The draft quote is in Jobber with your price or the flag. From there it is a Jobber quote like any other. What happens after I approve a recommendation?
